Melksham-based Avon Protection has received a further award under its existing 10-year sole source requirements contract with the US Department of Defense (DoD) to supply its M50 JSGPM masks valued at approximately $19m and for delivery in its 2012 financial year.

The contract is in addition to the 100,000 masks a year Avon currently supplies the DoD.

the firm, part of Avon Rubber group, has already delivered more than 600,000 masks to the DoD under this contract. The M50 mask will replace all existing masks in the four services of the US armed forces.

Avon chief executive Peter Slabbert said: “This award demonstrates the accelerating demand for our world-leading product and gives us excellent revenue visibility against this contract for 2012.’’
