Costa Coffee is to open its second UK Drive Thru outlet in Swindon tomorrow, creating 20 jobs and promising what it calls ‘great coffee for people on the go’.

The shop, at Lydiard Fields, is the first in the South West and one of six planned across the UK by the end of next year.

The Drive Thru will have seating inside and outside for 85 people. Opening hours will be from 5.30am to 9pm Monday to Saturday, and 7am to 9pm on Sundays.

Regional manager for Costa in Gloucester & Wiltshire Marcus Iggulden said: “As well as bringing new employment opportunities to the town, we feel this is a great opportunity to demonstrate the quality and passion that goes into every single cup of Costa’s coffee, all of which is hand-crafted by expert baristas. The Drive Thru will also offer people the chance to relax and enjoy a good cup of coffee before continuing with their journey.”

The shop’s manager is Andy Hudson, who is also manager of the Swindon town centre store – one of the most successful in the region.

The first Costa Drive Thru opened in Nottingham in May.  Costa was founded in 1971. Now part of the Whitbread leisure group, it has more than 1,800 stores in 24 countries.
