Online survey for firms to find out how green their IT is

Swindon firms are being urged to take part in an online survey gauging how green their IT is. The exercise is part of an initiative aiming to help further education colleges share their knowledge and expertise with businesses, helping  them save money on IT and related energy costs while ensuring the environmental impact is minimised.

New College Swindon is part of the consortium working on the Lean Green IT Machine project, which is supported by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS).
The Green IT Survey marks the launch of the project. When completed in November 2011, businesses will be able to take advantage of a free online toolkit with advice on how to save money on IT and related energy costs.

The website will also include best practice case studies on various green initiatives such as power management and printer rationalisation and show how colleges have worked with local businesses to reduce their carbon footprint. The Lean Green IT Machine can also serve as the basis for developing and improving further green IT employer responsive programmes.

To take part in the survey and to be entered into a free prize draw with a chance of winning a £100 Red Letter Day experience, go to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/greenitproject To find out more about the project, contact Catherine Bozec at New College Swindon on 01793 732893 or email catherine.bozec@newcollege.ac.uk.
