Hills Homes, part of the Wiltshire-based Hills Group, has beaten competition from 11 regional finalists across England and Wales to win the Best Small Housing Development category in the LABC National Building Excellence Awards.

The Marlborough-based housebuilder collected the award for its exclusive Old Dairy seven-home development in Upper Castle Combe. The scheme was inspired by the picturesque village, where strict rules apply to preserve its beauty and character.

The development was commended for improving the setting of an existing adjacent Grade II*-listed property while maintaining a rural theme to blend into its environment. This was reflected in an exterior palette of natural stone, clay and slate tiles with timber joinery as well as sloping ceilings inside.

The award was presented to Hills Group chief executive Mike Hill at a ceremony at The Brewery in London by author, broadcaster and former MP Gyles Brandreth.

Mike said: “This is justified recognition for an exceptional team of people.”

Hills Property group director Nick King added:  “This award represents all the hard work, care and dedication that my team puts into delivering first-class homes and creating wonderful places to live.”

Hill Homes is part of the Hills waste, aggregates, concrete and building group. The Old Dairy won the LABC West of England regional round last July.
