Swindon-based First Great Western has teamed up with the owners of a five-star, short-stay destination in West Wales to offer a new rail package for visitors from the town seeking relaxation and tranquillity.
Unveiled on Tuesday – St David’s Day – the direct train and transfer services between Swindon Station and the Bluestone National Park Resort mean guests can book their travel, accommodation and activities in one go.
Standard and first class packages have been launched which will allow guests to jump on a train at Swindon and be whisked to the relaxing environment at Bluestone in the heart of the Pembrokeshire National Park where they can enjoy the surroundings of one of Wales’ best kept secrets, including five-star lodges and cottages, a health spa, adventure centre, waterpark, outdoor activities and fine dining.
Bluestone chief executive William McNamara said: “St David’s Day is an ideal time to launch a new service that takes the hassle out of going on a short break by bringing travel and accommodation arrangements together and allowing guests to enjoy a top-class service from home to Bluestone.
“Our partnership with First Great Western means busy executives and their partners or families seeking to get away from it all can simply hop on the train and relax until they arrive at Bluestone where they can chill-out or enjoy some of the amazing activities which the resort is famous for.
“We’re very environmentally conscious at Bluestone and this package is another way of addressing our ‘green’ credentials by bringing guests into the resort by train and transfer – taking the stresses and strains out of the arrangements and making sure they relax and rejuvenate.”
The packages, including return fares and accommodation, start from £86 per person per night.
