A pair of garages in Swindon have become the latest to benefit from Halfords £73m investment into the car servicing and repair market.

The former Nationwide Autocentres on Callenders and Hobley Drive have undergone a refurbishment and rebrand to become Halfords Autocentres after the nation’s leading car parts retailer entered the garage sector by acquiring the national car service, repair and MOT chain earlier this year.

Swindon’s Halfords Autocentres opened on Friday November 26th and are amongst the group’s 228 centres to adopt the distinctive orange and black branding.

Steve Rummings, manager of the Callenders branch, said: “The presence of a Halfords Autocentre in Swindon is good news for both the company and drivers in the town.

“Our garage is equipped with the very latest technology which means we can service all makes and models of car, old and new. Plus we providedealership quality at more affordable prices and a friendly and efficient service from the same team with the same local expertise and experience that customers have come to trust.

“The local supply chain is also set to benefit from the company’s continued investment with suppliers and partners in the area. We also invest in the community with our industry-leading apprenticeship scheme.”

Halfords Autocentre is planning to open an additional eight centres nationwide before the end of 2010 and the network will be 400 strong within five years, creating 1,000 new jobs.
