Recent growth and strategic business development at regional accountancy group MHA Monahans, which has offices in and around Swindon, have been recognised in a major industry awards scheme.
The firm came top in the Practice Growth Firm of the Year category of the Accounting Excellence Awards 2018 for a spate of strategic initiatives that bolstered its growth.
MHA Monahans has expanded its services and geographic spread over the past three years through a combination of acquisitions and organic growth. It now has offices in Swindon, Chippenham, Melksham, Trowbridge, Bath, Frome, Glastonbury and Taunton, employing 16 partners and 190 staff.
Turnover has increased by 20% over the period while it has also moved further into the Somerset market following the acquisition 20 months ago of long-established Taunton firm BJ DixonWalsh.
The firm’s development of specialist services such as probate and private tax were also highlighted by award judges along with its approach to investing and retaining staff that impressed the judges.
MHA Monahans managing partner Simon Tombs said: “The award is great recognition for the whole firm, and the role our team played in the continued growth and success of MHA Monahans.
“Growth, innovation and development are parts of every aspect of the business, however we felt it was always very important not to lose sight of the most important part – the people who we work for and the people who work for us.
“Over the past few years we’ve welcomed many new clients and colleagues from across the region and their skills and passion has also enabled us to expand the services we offer and to make the most of a changing landscape where, in many instances, our role as business advisor plays a crucial part in more than just accounting but also throughout someone’s professional and personal life.”
The Practice Growth Firm of the Year Award was presented to MHA Monahans by Countdown co-host Rachel Riley at the Accounting Excellence Awards 2018 dinner. The awards are staged by the AccountingWeb site.
MHA Monahans was also recently shortlisted in the Mid-Tier Firm of the Year (£10m-£25m) category of the British Accountancy Awards.
