Regional law firm Royds Withy King, which has offices in Swindon and Marlborough, has strengthened its property disputes team with the appointment of associate Sarah Taylor.

Sarah, pictured, joins from the Bristol head office of national firm Bevan Brittan, where she helped NHS trusts, housing associations and other clients to resolve their property disagreements.

She brings significant experience to the team ranging from warring neighbours to disputes involving commercial landlords and their tenants.

She said: “Royds Withy King has a strong reputation for its property disputes work and I look forward to helping to develop this further. No two property disputes are the same, so the role offers great variety and an opportunity to build close working relationships with clients in both the residential and commercial property sectors.

“I am pragmatic in my approach and always keep an eye on the commercial reality of the situation as well as the legal complexities to ensure my advice is grounded and that clients understand the implications of the options available to them. Where possible, we will try to find alternative ways of settling disputes without resorting to the courts.”

Royds Withy King partner Caroline Preist, who heads the property disputes team, added: “Sarah is specialising in long leasehold work, including enfranchisement, the right to manage, renewing, extending and ending leases and service charge disputes.

“She has hit the ground running and our clients are already benefiting from her knowledge and experience in this evolving area of the law. In her spare time, Sarah is a keen runner and cyclist and will be a great addition to our sporty fund-raising teams who do so much to support local good causes.”

Royds Withy King’s property disputes team acts for a wide range of clients, and has particular expertise in disputes involving rent issues and payment disputes, eviction advice including evicting squatters, repairs and dilapidations, rights over land, boundary disputes, restrictive covenants and joint ownership issues.

Royds Withy King also has two offices in Bath and bases in Oxford and London.
