Each week Swindon Business News gives a prominent member of the town’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin. This week Sally Holland, partner at Swindon accountancy firm PPS Chartered Accountants, answers our 10 questions.

What was the LAST:

Film you watched? I don’t tend to sit and watch a film although I’m definitely going to see The Accountant starring Ben Affleck at some point!

Book you read? I love to read books and I am currently ready The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. I am also reading Six Thinking Hats by Edward de Bono as I am doing a talk about maximising your time.

Music you bought or downloaded? I love listening to music and enjoy lots of different artists so I tend to use Spotify. I have just added some songs by Marina and the Diamonds to the mix I listen to in the car.

Concert or play you went to? I saw my nieces perform in The Wizard of Oz up in Manchester earlier this year. It was great fun to watch.

Sporting event you attended? Myself and my husband both enjoy running and support each other at our various events.  I recently watched him do four laps of the Nuts Challenge in Surrey, it was extremely muddy!

Holiday you went on? I went to Penzance in Cornwall with my two children to get some autumn sun and catch up with some of my family who live down there. I love the seaside and found it a great break before the end of year rush begins.

Restaurant you ate in? Helen Browning’s Chop House in Wood Street, Old Town, to celebrate becoming a partner of PPS.  It was really good food and the sticky toffee pudding I had was delicious!

Thing that annoyed you? I’m not easily annoyed to be honest, so I can’t remember!

Thing that made you laugh out loud? My kids are always making me laugh – they recently dressed up as a vampire and werewolf for Halloween and had me in hysterics as they really got into the characters.

Piece of good advice you were given? There are two: to pay attention to the detail is something I’ve always been taught at PPS – and it always pays off. The other is not to over-complicate things as sometimes the solution to a problem can be very simple.

Sally Holland was recently promoted to partner at Swindon accountancy firm PPS Chartered Accountants. She was the firm’s first trainee when she joined aged 19 in 2001 after completing her A-levels. She started her chartered accountancy studies later that year at Reed Business School, passing her final exam in 2006 and receiving the ACA (Association of Chartered Accountants) qualification the following year.
