Swindon IT and mobile communications firm Excalibur has been appointed by nursing and training services provider First City Group – also based in Swindon – to handle all its communications.
First City, which employs nearly 500 staff, previously used 30 different suppliers. 
Excalibur’s new managed service agreement with First City includes its recently launched managed print services (MPS), which monitors and tracks all printing, removing the risk of sensitive information being compromised.
Excalibur has already synchronized landline and mobile calls for First City with a new cloud-based platform, while its team of IT specialists will work to specific service level agreements (SLAs) to handle the varying levels of urgency accordingly.
Requests are fed into a transparent case management system so that all parties remain informed.
A disaster recovery plan is also now in place with 24/7 system monitoring, more mobile devices, secure connections, encrypted data and end-user education from a team of Excalibur experts.
Excalibur’s appointment follows the successful new communications infrastructure that it recently introduced for Home Instead Senior Care Swindon & Vale of the White Horse, a growing provider of high-quality, reliable, relationship-based services that allow older people to remain living independently in their own homes with assistance from their team of CAREGivers.
First City operations director Stephen Trowbridge said working with 30 suppliers caused headaches over responsibility and billing, especially during system failures.
“We could not carry on with out of date technology and systems that didn’t collaborate – not to mention the admin nightmare that comes with 30 different suppliers,” he said.
“We can now work smarter, save money and allow our business to become more flexible, productive and engaged.”
