Swindon firm Tenant Screening, which provides a vetting service to landlords and letting agents across the UK, has formed a partnership with one of the country’s largest landlord associations.

Under the agreement – a first for the firm – it has become a preferred supplier for EMPO (East Midlands Property Owners association).

Nottingham-based EMPO is the oldest landlord association in the country, having been set up in 1942, and also the second largest regional association. It represents 500 landlords who collectively rent out 15,000 properties.

It provides support to landlords and property investors and helps promote good practice in the industry.

It approached Tenant Screening and invited it to become a preferred supplier.

EMPO business development manager Giles Inman said the association was keen to give added value and information to landlords. Encouraging landlords to vet prospective tenants fitted with its ethos, so Tenant Screening was a perfect partner, he said.

“Landlords are bombarded with regulations all the time, both nationally and at a local level,” said Giles. “There are 100 laws and 400 regulations they have to adhere to, so EMPO helps support landlords to ensure they are compliant.

“Screening of tenants is of huge importance before letting out a property, so we are delighted to be able to promote Tenant Screening’s services to our members and to the many landlords we get contacting us seeking advice.”

Tenant Screening manager Kelvin McCarthy, pictured, said he was delighted to be partnering with EMPO.

“EMPO is a very well-known and respected landlord association, and we very pleased to have been asked to be a referrals partner. Their aim to spread best practice and to support landlords fits perfectly with what we do, and we look forward to a long and happy association with them.,” he said.

Tenant Screening offers landlords and letting agents across the UK a screening service for potential tenants.

Kelvin and his team can make a number of checks on would-be tenants ranging from Right to Rent, credit checks, residency and ID verification, to employment and landlord referencing, as well as identifying court or insolvency information held against the prospective tenant.
