CMS SupaTrak, the Swindon-based specialist software firm, has been shortlisted for a top national innovation accolade in the waste management industry.
The firm’s appearance as a finalist in the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM) Sustainability & Resource Awards – which champion outstanding achievements in the sustainability, resource and waste industry – comes hot on the heels of it achieving the coveted Investors in People standard in recognition of its commitment to its staff.
CMS will compete in the Best Innovation in Vehicle, Plant and Equipment category of the awards against four other businesses.
CMS was nominated for its embedded HGV telematics system, which reduces fuel consumption, cuts CO2 emissions and extends the life of commercial vehicles.
CMS managing director Jason Airey said: “The team here work very hard to make sure that our software is always meeting the ever-changing needs of both our customers and the latest environmental challenges.
“We know that our system is really making an impact on the use of the planet’s resources so I’m delighted that our work has been recognised. These awards are highly competitive so even to be shortlisted is a great achievement.”
The awards are being held at the Marriott Grosvenor Square in London on November 3.
CMS SupaTrak, which employs 40 people at its headquarters on the Delta Office Park, builds software that helps improve driver behaviour, reduce accident rates, increase efficiency and cut operating costs.
Its products are widely used by customers across the UK and Europe in industries ranging from transport and logistics, to local authorities and waste management and include live GPS vehicle tracking, live-feed crash and safety cameras, vehicle telematics, in-cab driver and job management and driver coaching.
The firm, which was established in 1993, designs and produces its software in house.
