Swindon-based IT and communications firm Excalibur is backing a second attempt at the staging the world record for the largest number of people taking part in a Swiss Ball exercise.
The firm supported a bid two years ago that came agonisingly close but failed to gather enough participants.
On October 1 it aims to get 500 people together to make another bid – and will also see if it can beat the £10,000 it raised previously for a state-of-the-art teenage cancer facility.
This new attempt marks the launch of the Younite Foundation, a registered charity that provides support and life-changing opportunities for local children and young adults up to the age of 21.
Younite trustee Karen Thornley said: “We want everyone to enjoy themselves and raise lots of money, just like we did in 2014.
“But this time round we really want Swindon to embrace Team GB’s fantastic Olympic spirit and show everyone what we’re made of by setting a new world record.”
Excalibur CEO James Phipps, who is a trustee and driving force behind the Younite Foundation, added: “Younite trustees have selected three amazing causes to support with this years’ event.”
The charities are Jessie May, a Children’s Hospice at Home, Melon Mission, which provides street children in Kenya with food, clothing and education, and Swindon youth project BIOS.
David Lloyd Clubs is once again supporting the event – which will take place at its Swindon centre at Blunsdon St Andrew - while Excalibur is sponsor the staging costs.
The attempt takes place at 2.30pm on October 1.
Anyone wanting to be part of a potential world record-breaking team can register for free at ballsbounceback.co.uk. A donation of £10 towards the Younite charities is recommended.
