An £8m state-of-the-art dementia care home has opened in Swindon supported by a tailored finance package from Barclays.
Abbey House, which is expected to create 200 jobs once fully operational, is the latest investment by Milestones Trust – a charity with a long history of providing care and support to vulnerable people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and dementia across the South West.
The design of 73-bed care home in Blunsdon has been carefully thought through to meet Stirling dementia care standards, a framework that ensures the needs of those living in the home with dementia are met.
Milestones Trust CEO John Hoskinson said: “As a care provider with 30 years’ expertise behind us, we have built a reputation on providing the best possible care and support services where they are needed.
“We are delighted to have worked with Barclays to bring this expertise to Swindon and provide residential care to support those living with dementia in the local area.”
Barclays relationship director Neil Chandler said: “I’m pleased to have been able to support Milestones Trust with the funding to be able to build a specialist care home.
“The addition of the new beds recognises the local market requirement, plus the creation of a number of new jobs in the Swindon area.
“Barclays is committed to using our industry expertise within the healthcare sector to support experienced and professional operators such as this which is vital to a prosperous local economy.”
