Overseas buyer snaps up new office investment opportunity at Churchward

A new office in Swindon’s emerging Churchward business hub has been sold to an overseas buyer for more than its £1.55m asking price.

The 7,296 sq ft office in Achilles House was last month let to national accountancy firm RSM, enabling it to relocate from its Swindon base at Westmead.

The Swindon office of property agents Keningtons, acting for the developer Thomas Homes, has now completed the investment sale.

Jeremy Sutton of Keningtons said: “The new office at Churchward proved to be very popular for both occupiers and investors.

“RSM as the tenants secured the property in a competitive situation and then when we offered the investment to the market, prior to completion of the occupational lease.”

The overseas private investor was represented by Cheltenham surveyors J Nicholas Upton and Partners.

Thomas Homes’ development of new build and heritage building conversions at Churchward is creating a new mixed-use area on what was part of the site of the town’s historic rail works. The scheme, which also includes the apartment blocks Apollo House and Artemis House, is close to the STEAM railway museum, the Swindon Designer Outlet and the National Trust headquarters.

Achilles House and the adjoining unit Hermes House have apartments on the upper floors.
