Renewable energy firm Good Energy is celebrating after triumphing at one of the UK’s leading green awards.
The Chippenham-based firm, which supplies 100% renewable electricity and ‘green’ gas, secured the Company of the Year and Customer Service Recognition titles at the 2016 British Renewable Energy (REA) Awards.
Good Energy managing director David Brooks said: “It’s been a great week for Good Energy. Supporting customers and the environment is at the core of our ethos.
“Winning awards gives us an extra burst of inspiration to keep working towards a more sustainable, renewable future for them.
“We’re incredibly proud of the whole team and it’s fantastic to see their work over the last year acknowledged in this way.”
REA chief executive Dr Nina Skorupska CBE added that the judges were impressed with the commitment Good Energy shows to customer service.
“Good Energy are genuine market leaders, showing you can be an ethical and competitive energy provider, successful business and have exceptional levels of customer satisfaction. They were worthy winners in both categories.”
Will Heinzelmann from Good Energy’s innovation team was also highly commended in the Young Renewable Energy Professional category.
He said: “It’s a real honour to receive this recognition from two leading bodies in the energy sector.
“Before joining the team in 2014, I had no experience in the energy industry. It’s been great to get the opportunity to work for Good Energy and learn more about an industry that I am so passionate about.”
Good Energy said the awards recognised its work to make a positive contribution to communities, society and the environment, and for its customer service, which continued to set the bar for the rest of the industry.
The firm has provided community donations at all its renewable projects, helped fund a new school playground and church bell restoration scheme, and become the only energy company to top three consecutive polls for customer service by users of MoneySavingExpert.com
