A talk later this month at Swindon chartered accountants Banks BHG will focus on the importance for business owners of getting their personal finances in order and planning ahead.
Banks BHG director Bernard Harrington, pictured, and Stephen Horton, senior executive at Swindon law firm Thrings, will jointly present the seminar on June 29, focusing on what people should consider when writing a will, lasting powers of attorney, securing assets through the use of trusts and inheritance tax planning.
With three quarters of people dying without making a will, forward planning is vital.
The presentation at Banks BHG’s Stratton office is the penultimate in the firm’s popular series of free events before a break for the summer. The last meeting, on July 13, will be a networking breakfast.
Bernard Harrington said: “Making the best provision for your family or your business now and in the future requires careful financial planning.
“At the last count, a remarkable 75% of people die without having made plans for their property or possessions. Many think their estate will automatically go to their next of kin but it’s just not that simple – they risk the Government taking it all if they die with no beneficiaries.
“It is especially important for business owners to make sure their business and assets are transferred correctly on their death.”
The seminar on June 29 starts at 5.45pm and includes a light buffet while the breakfast on July 13 is from 7.30am. For more information or to book for either event, visit www.banksbhg.com/events
