The private client team at law firm Withy King, which has offices in Swindon and Marlborough, raised more than £7,500 for Prospect Hospice during its most recent Make A Will Month.

Withy King waived its usual fees in exchange for a charitable donation when it helped draft or update more than 30 wills during the month – the fourth year the firm has supported the campaign.

Withy King clients have now raised a total of £24,000 for the Swindon-based hospice through the firm’s involvement in Make A Will Month.

Mandy Casavant, a wills and estate planning specialist at Withy King and a trustee of Prospect Hospice, said: “This annual campaign is an excellent way of raising awareness of the importance of wills while raising money for an invaluable local charity.

“We are very pleased to play our part in supporting Prospect in delivering dedicated end-of-life care and family support services locally and proud that our clients contributed over half of the overall amount, just shy of £14,000, raised by the initiative this year.”

Melanie Dicker from Prospect Hospice’s fundraising team added: “Make A Will Month has been very valuable to us since we first introduced it and provides a great opportunity for people to focus on the things that are likely to matter most to them after they die.

“We are very appreciative of the generous support given to us by the solicitors who take part in our Make A Will Month.”

In 2014-15 Prospect Hospice cared for and supported almost 6,400 people – as patients, carers and family members – through a range of services developed to bring care, comfort and confidence at life’s most difficult time.

The hospice supports a community of 300,000 people in Swindon, Marlborough and North Wiltshire as well as the Gloucestershire villages of Lechlade and Fairford.
