Swindon’s two annual business events – Business West’s Business Show Swindon and the South West Expo – have merged to form one major event.

The combined show – which will take place under the South West Business & Community Expo name – will be staged at the town’s STEAM museum on June 30 with the promise to be bigger and better than the previous events. STEAM had previously hosted both events.

The event will include more than 80 exhibitors, industry-leading workshops, one-to-one clinics on key business issues including funding, as well as networking opportunities. It will be free to attend.

Ian Larrard, director of at Business West’s Swindon & Wiltshire Initiative, said: “In an effort to avoid duplication of effort, it makes perfect sense to partner with SW Expo this year.

“Local businesses will benefit by having one business show that provides a bigger platform to network and create new business opportunities.

“By working together we hope the show will be a real success, with added events in the programme providing a fully packed day to do business in Swindon.”

South West Expo director Alex Jones-Hall added: “We are delighted to be working alongside Business West this year and have no doubt that a combination of both companies’ expertise will deliver a highly successful business show.”

Business West members and those who have exhibited at previous Business Shows Swindon are being offered a 10% discount off the booking fee for the South West Business & Community Expo.

Mr Jones-Hall added: “Our passion is supporting regional business growth and this show is designed around attendees meeting new clients, suppliers, prospects – or just catching up with old business associates.”

Six keynote speakers have already been booked including inspirational double amputee Afghanistan war hero Sgt Rick Clement, Apprentice runner-up Richard Woods, the first woman CEO of British Rail Jackie Chappell, best-selling author Brad Burton and award-winning young entrepreneur Julianne Ponan.
