Three new private sector members have been appointed to the board of the Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), filling roles vacated by three long-standing members who have recently stepped down.

The new appointments, which were endorsed by the LEP board earlier this month, are Heylo Housing partnership director Vic O’Brien, Marc Richard, managing director of Trowbridge-based upmarket sofa maker Roger Lewis, and Adam Schallamach, head of CMA Market Review at Swindon-based Nationwide Building Society.

Vic O’Brien has worked in housing development for 25 years, the last 19 years in Swindon, Wiltshire and surrounding areas. He spent 10 years at Swindon-based GreenSquare Group’s development director before joining national housing group Heylo. He is a chartered member of the Institute of Housing with a strong interest in housing investment models.

Marc Richard started his career in finance with Swiss bank UBS but now owns and manages Roger Lewis.

Adam Schallamach is a qualified lawyer with over 20 years’ experience in the financial services sector both at home and abroad. He has worked for Nationwide in a number of different roles since 2007.

The three replace Nationwide strategy & propositions director Rob Angus, Business West board member Nicky Alberry, and Graham Dean, operations director of Chippenham-based office furniture designers Herman Miller.

The military standing board member is also changing with Brig Jez Bennett being replaced by Col Toby Bridge.

LEP chair Barry Dennington said: “Vic, Marc and Adam bring an individual and combined wealth of knowledge and experience that will add to our board membership and support our continued work to drive economic growth in Swindon and Wiltshire.”

This was in line, he said, with the LEP’s four priorities of inward investment; supporting and stimulating existing business growth and facilitating new business set up; job creation, education and skills; and economic infrastructure.”
