Swindon chartered accountancy firm Banks BHG is calling on quiz lovers to sign up for its popular charity brainteaser later this month.

The event, on Thursday April 28, is open to teams of four, with all proceeds going to the firm’s charity of the year, Julia’s House, which is aiming to open the first children’s hospice in Wiltshire.

Staff at the Stratton-based firm have already raised hundreds of pounds for Julia’s House, including more than £680 by entering a team in the Devizes 10km run.

The team comprised Tracey Heath, Adam Burroughs, Esha Akram, Neil Elsden, Rowena Gonsalves and Kathryn Milward.

The quiz takes place at the De Vere Village Hotel, West Swindon. Entry is £5 per head for teams of four and several teams have already registered to take part, mainly from among local businesses and Banks BHG associates.

Banks BHG director Neil Elsden said: “The quiz always goes down well and, more importantly, gives a good boost to our charity funds.

“We picked Julia’s House as our charity this year because we were so impressed with the work they do in trying to get a children’s hospice built in Wiltshire. Such a facility seems, to us, vital for children and their families at such a difficult time.”

Julia’s House has bought a property in Devizes and planning permission has just been secured, giving the green light for its hospice dream for Wiltshire to become a reality.

Now the charity has permission to convert the buildings it can concentrate on creating the look and feel of the new hospice.

Other events planned by Banks BHG for the year include a charity walk, a golf day and a repeat of the annual office bake-off.
