Wiltshire travel and event agency Planet Pursuits has landed its industry’s top award for the third year running.
The event management firm, which stages events at Purton House and also has offices near Royal Wootton Bassett, struck gold as Best Event Agency 2016 at the Meeting and Incentive Travel industry awards (M&IT).
It was also a finalist in the Best Intermediary Agency (fewer than 40 employees) category. Planet Pursuits was up against five other nominees in both hotly contested categories.
The prestigious annual awards are organised by Meetings & Incentive Travel magazine and recognise the best suppliers, agencies, hotels and venues in the industry in the UK and overseas.
The award ceremony, staged this year at London’s Battersea Evolution, brought together more than 1,200 event industry professionals.
Planet Pursuits was formed in 2000 by director Simon Maddison from a back store office at its farm venue Purton House.
The agency has steadily grown to be one of the UK’s most successful agencies still in private hands and has secured new business worth more than £4m over the past 18 months.
Last year successes included managing all of the UK events of Intuit QuickBooks – the world’s number one accounting software – and securing Emergen, UK Bodytalks and FSI as clients.
Simon Maddison said: “Our success is in adapting to the needs of a market and never standing still. We started as humble company running stag parties, we then moved into corporate event management and now we are a fully accredited corporate travel agent.”
The awards came as the agency secured a partnership with Advantage Travel, the UK’s largest independent travel agent group. The backing of Advantage adds travel facilities including air, rail and hire car, to its comprehensive list of event and activity services.
Planet Pursuits conducts more than 200 events a year ranging from company fun days, incentive travel, team building away days and corporate travel including transport and accommodation.
