Trading at Cambria, the Swindon-based franchised motor retailer, was “substantially ahead” in the five months to the end of February compared to the same period a year ago, the firm has said.
The fast-growing group, which last year bought TH White’s Royal Wootton Bassett Land Rover dealership for £7.56m, clocked up a 3.8% increase in new vehicle sales while also achieving a 4.3% rise in used car sales.
Growth in the group’s aftersales operations also continued, with profitability up by 4.1% year-on-year.
Cambria said the former TH White Land Rover business, which it acquired on April 30 last year, had continued to perform in line with expectations.
In a trading update to shareholders, it said: “After the first week of the important March trading period, the new car order book is building well and the board expects the group to deliver another strong trading performance in this crucial month. The board continues to look to the future with confidence.”
Cambria’s 29 dealerships represent 44 franchises and 17 brands across the UK and trade under local brand names such as County Motor Works, Grange, Invicta and Motorparks – including Swindon Motor Park.
It will announce its interim results for the six months ended February 29 on May 10.
