A high-profile distribution building in West Swindon has been snapped up by regional self-storage firm UK Storage Company for its eighth site.

The firm, which operates sites in Bristol, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Devon and Cornwall, has taken over the 24,000 sq ft former Accord Office Supplies building on the Westmead Industrial Estate.

The deal was secured by Alastair Andrews, partner at Swindon property agents Loveday, who said: “UK Storage Company has acquired an excellent property in West Swindon for their rapidly expanding self-storage business.

“It has excellent roadside prominence fronting onto the Great Western Way opposite the Mead Roundabout. I am sure it will be a great success in a part of Swindon that is not yet served by a quality operator.”

UK Storage Company, which was launched in 2005, handles business, residential and document storage.

Commercial manager John Lamb praised Alastair Andrews for his help in finding the building.

“He was a great help throughout the leasing processes. Not only did he identify the site for us but his local knowledge was vital in securing the best deal for the company.

“He was also able to advise on dilapidations and his experience was a great help. He was always available on the end of the phone and it was great to get impartial advice from somebody with genuine knowledge in the local market.”

Accord, one of the UK’s largest independent owned office supplies businesses, moved across town from the Westmead site to Dorcan in East Swindon in 2013.
