VisitWiltshire has won the title of Best Tourist Board Website in the UK travel industry’s leading awards for web, social media and use of technology.
The public vote gave www.visitwiltshire.co.uk the top spot in the prestigious TravelMole Web Awards. Views were sought on content, layout, ease of navigation and innovation.
Now in their 12th year, the TravelMole UK Web Awards are staged by the TravelMole.com online community for the travel and tourism Industry.
VisitWiltshire marketing manager Fiona Errington said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won this award especially after recently refreshing our website to make it fully responsive and incorporating our ‘timeless’ branding. This award has been won based on the public’s support which is therefore a great achievement for us.”
Members of VisitWiltshire’s online marketing group, set up with representatives of its partners, provided ongoing input into the design and development of the VisitWiltshire website, using the crowdsourcing platform IdeaScale.
VisitWiltshire board member and chair of the online marketing group Dr Philip Alford added: “It’s a good example of a collaborative approach to destination marketing and the effort involved has clearly paid off with this impressive award.”
Other award winners included British Airways, P&O Cruises and Skyscanner.
VisitWiltshire, the official tourist board for the county, is a private sector membership organisation representing more than 630 partners.
Wiltshire’s visitor economy generates an estimated £1.5bn and supports more than 28,000 jobs.
