Swindon-based Field Recruitment is backing a new women’s cycling group in the town that is now in training for a series of events to raise money for a cancer charity.

The Chainset Chicks, which are co-led by Field service delivery manager Emma Ryder, are aiming to get on their bikes in aid of Women V Cancer.

The first event for the nine-strong group will be the White Horse Challenge on April 24, where they will cycle up and down seven of Wiltshire’s white horse hills, with a climb total of a staggering 4,390 ft.

They also hope to take part in the London Ride the Night in May, a 100km night-time ride across the capital, as well as a Ride London event in July and another in the New Forest in September.

Emma said: “We are all women who really enjoy cycling, and by entering events and helping such a great charity like Women V Cancer, we have a real incentive to keep training.

“Field will also be helping us with some sponsorship, as Women V Cancer is going to be the charity they support this year.”

The Chainset Chicks are looking for new members, and welcome beginners as well as more experienced cyclists. All the members are based in and around Swindon, and organise rides at least twice a month, at weekends during the winter and weekday evenings in the summer, with a different route each time. There’s no fee to join or take part.
