Swindon-based recruitment firm C&D Group, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary, has made its first strategic acquisition, taking over town-based specialist construction agency Ellis Recruitment.
The agency, launched by Natalie Ellis two years ago and based on Swindon’s Windmill Hill business park, offers an in depth and personal service, placing white-collar construction professionals ranging from directors, site managers and quantity surveyors to estimators, site engineers and CAD technicians on both a contract and permanent basis. 
It works with clients based in Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, Bristol and London.
C&D, which is owned by Karen Davison and Lee Marner, pictured, will now expand Ellis Recruitment’s offering to supply blue-collar construction workers. C&D believes there are few local specialist construction recruiters offering such an enhanced recruitment solution.
C&D chief operating officer Lee Marner said: “Karen and I have been waiting to acquire an exceptional business that sat within the construction market place.
“We have witnessed an outstanding period of growth in recent years and the acquisition of Ellis Recruitment offers us a great opportunity to expand into a new geographical area, and also to fully service the niche recruitment area around the construction appointment market.”
Natalie Ellis said she felt the time was right to diversify her career and follow other business interests. She said: “I consider Karen and Lee the perfect team to take over my business because they have a fantastic reputation and we have very similar business ethics.
“With 20 years of success and growth, C&D certainly have the knowledge and experience to take Ellis Recruitment to a new level.”
C&D last year opened the first of its new flagship recruitment centres on Havelock Street in Swindon town centre with the promise that they will be more than just another high street employment agency.
