Beard, the Swindon-based construction company, has appointed a construction director to head its new office in Bristol.
Mike Hedges, pictured, a chartered construction manager, joins the £108m turnover company from Wates Construction where he was construction manager for the South West.
He will be responsible for the strategic direction and regional development of Beard’s Bristol operations following the opening earlier this year of a base in the city.
The privately owned firm, which also has offices in Oxford and Guildford, undertakes design and build, new build, restoration and refurbishment projects up to £10m for public and private sector organisations.
The 123-year-old company recently completed the £5.3m conversion of a former HM Revenue and Customs tax office in Bristol city centre into high-specification student accommodation and is also working for the University of Bristol.

Beard last year won the prestigious PwC West of England Business of the Year Award.
