Swindon safety training consultancy sold to global group

Swindon-based specialist training consultancy Cuerden Consulting has been acquired by Edif ERA, part of the global technical inspection and safety group Edif.

Cuerden works with major clients such as the MoD, Network Rail and Hitachi Rail Europe, providing them with training and competence management services to ensure their employees perform their roles competently and safely.

Private-equity owned Edif said Cuerden’s management team will continue to lead the business.

Cuerden Consulting founder and director Iain Francis said: “This is an excellent outcome for Cuerden Consulting. We have enjoyed strong growth over the last five years, including expanding our original focus on defence into rail, aviation, port and maritime, and fire and rescue in the UK and abroad.

“This acquisition by Edif ERA allows us to work alongside our new colleagues to expand our services into the oil and gas industry, nuclear, and similar safety critical sectors worldwide.”

Edif ERA managing director Steve Lancaster added: “We are immensely pleased and excited to be welcoming Cuerden Consulting to Edif ERA.

Isca Ventures, the independent and specialist corporate finance advisory firm, advised the shareholders of Cuerden Consulting on the sale.

Isca director Peter Doe said: “We are delighted to see the shareholders able to achieve an exit to Edif Group. This deal provides the team an excellent opportunity to be part of a fast growing business and will give strong continuity to customers and staff.”

Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
