Each week Swindon Business News gives a prominent member of the area’s business community the last word on our weekly e-bulletin.

This week David Brown, managing director of Openit, answers our 10 questions.

What was the LAST:

Film you watched? Spectre

Book you read? The Bible – a new translation supposed to be more authentic.

Music you bought or downloaded? Writing’s on the Wall by Sam Smith.

Concert or play you went to? Classical Extravaganza at the Royal Albert Hall in November.

Sporting event you attended? The Rugby World Cup from the sofa!

Holiday you went on? North Wales for August Bank Holiday.

Restaurant you ate in? La Flambé, Sutton Benger

Thing that annoyed you? The negative press people gave the switching on of the Christmas lights in Chippenham. Due to the bad weather some things had to be cancelled and there was unfair criticism of the organisers.

Thing that made you laugh out loud? A photograph my daughter sent me of her dog Louie, below, looking at the advent calendar which I gave her and her fiancé which has two chocolates for each day. The caption was ‘were there only two?’

Piece of good advice you were given? If someone you know or love is about to make a bad decision rather than contradicting them, think about how to buy more time so they don’t rush into things.

David Brown has been managing director of Chippenham-based Openit for 15 years, offering facilities management, serviced offices and conference room hire in Wessex. He’s lived in Wiltshire for 47 years, is married to Claire and they have two daughters Naomi and Hayley and a granddaughter Amber-Rose, aged seven months. At home, he enjoys DIY and gardening (depending on the weather!)
