Brainwave-powered mini-helicopters, futuristic virtual reality gaming and state-of-the-art 3D printing and will be among the technology on show at a unique centre to open in Swindon this month.
Rota-Motus will help position the town as a key base for innovation, making world-beating gadgets available to the public to try and buy.
Its town centre site will also aim to inspire young inventors and help existing inventors by showcasing their products at special events.
Newly formed Rota-Motus describes itself as the first of a kind – a technology experience centre offering the chance for the public to get to grips with the latest tech innovations.
It will offer tech sessions and demonstrations – either for individuals or groups – on gadgets such as Airwheels or Airboards. It will also offer a 3D design and print service allowing individuals to make their own jewellery or mobile phone accessories.
Rota-Motus has invited gadget firms CEL-UK, Myndplay and AirWheel to demonstrate their products at its official opening of its Edgeware Road base on November 27, along with South Swindon MP Robert Buckland, who will cut the ribbon.
Rota-Motus director Jo Allen said: “The technology we’ll be demonstrating is game-changing, yet most people won’t have seen it first-hand.
“We’re here to change that and give the general public access to the ideas and products that will change our lives. We also want to inspire new inventors and provide them with a platform to launch their concepts.
“As the home of companies such as Intel, Honda and Nationwide, Swindon is the perfect place for this.”
Rota-Motus offers lessons, experiences and information on the products it has in store, including Samsung Gear virtual reality, a Myndplay mini-helicopter that is controlled by brainwaves.
It also caters for bespoke business team building events and meetings in its large open indoor space, enabling people to familiarise themselves with new technologies before they buy.
Speakers at the Rota-Motus grand opening will include:
Nigel Tomlinson and Ben Caines, British FPV Drone Racing Association.
The British FPV Drone Racing Association, a not-for-profit organisation, aims to develop the sport and give FPV (first person view) pilots a voice in the model aircraft world. Nigel and Ben will talk about drone technology and explore its current and future uses.
Grant McKenzie, CEL-UK. CEL-UK has been developing Robox, a desktop 3D printer, since 2012. With its HeadLock system, Robox will use different heads and be upgradeable to become a dual material printer, stylus cutter, milling head or 3D scanner. Grant will present the infinite possibilities and capabilities of 3D printing.
Tre Asam, Myndplay. Myndplay is the world’s first mind-controlled media player. It connects a user’s computer with their mind through dry sensor EEG (electroencephalograph) BrainWave technology, allowing them to control, interact with and direct video media or a movie using only their mind. Tre will explain how commercially available EEG headsets can improve focus and meditation.
Sam Parham and Scott Fidget, AirWheel. AirWheel is the leading personal electronic transportation supplier. Its products have a speed of up to 12 miles an hour and can average up to 40 miles on a single battery charge. Sam and Scott will present the company’s range of AirWheels and AirBoards.
