Each week Swindon Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on our weekly e-bulletin.

This week Neil Glasspool, general manager at Guyers House Hotel in Corsham, answers our 10 questions.

What was the last:

Film you watched? Kingsman: The Secret Service, which is a British spy action comedy film starring Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Caine.

Book you read? The Cruel Sea, a 1951 novel by Nicholas Monsarrat. It follows the lives of a group of Royal Navy sailors fighting the Battle of the Atlantic during World War II. Being ex Royal Navy I enjoy reading books of this nature.

Music you bought or downloaded? That would be Mark Ronson’s song Uptown Funk featuring Bruno Mars which has been a huge hit this year

Concert or play you went to? We recently went to see Cameron Mackintosh’s production of Les Miserables in London. Although my wife laughed out loud when the little boy died, so not sure we will be returning anytime soon.

Sporting event you attended? Portsmouth FC recently when we had a great 3-1 win against Barnet.

Holiday you went on? My honeymoon. We went to the Grand Canaries, renowned for their white-sand beaches, it was beautiful.

Restaurant you ate in? The Italian restaurant, Sotto Sotto, in Bath, they have a classic Italian menu with a contemporary twist. Highly recommend!

Thing that annoyed you? My dog Weston. I spent the whole day wall papering my dining room. After I finished, I went shopping, came home and he had ripped it all off!

Thing that made you laugh out loud? My wife. She’s always mocking me for being ginger. She sent me a link yesterday saying I look like Danny Kaye, but as I keep telling her – I am strawberry blonde.

Piece of good advice you were given? Someone once told me to never make an important decision on a bad day, and since then I have tried to abide by that advice when it comes to making decisions.

Neil Glasspool has been general manager of Guyers House Hotel in Corsham since 2011, after moving back to the UK, from working in high-end resorts in the Maldives.
