Barclays has expanded its South West corporate banking team by appointing Lee Everson as its new head of large corporate banking.

Lee, pictured, will lead the team of relationship directors responsible for Barclays Corporate clients who typically turn over more than £50m.

He has been with Barclays for 11 years, working in group strategy before becoming a relationship director responsible for key clients in the technology, media and telecoms team.

Most recently, he ran the Professional Services Industry for Barclays in London before relocating to Bristol to head-up large corporate banking for the region. His leadership and corporate banking experience will add value to Barclays’ clients and their businesses.

Lee said: “I am delighted to have joined the Barclays South West corporate banking team – at a time of great opportunity to build on our market leading position. I look forward to working with the local professional community and meeting our clients to understand more about their businesses and to help them achieve their strategies and ambitions.

“I have worked in the corporate marketplace for many years and I am keen to utilise my skills and experience to support both existing and new clients. My primary objectives are to ensure we continue to serve our clients well and to develop Barclays’ competitive position by embracing and converting commercial opportunities.”

Barclays South West region managing director Martin French said: “Lee’s appointment will bring an added dimension to our business across the region and greatly enhance our client proposition. I look forward to working with him and welcome him to the team.”

Lee also has a PhD in genetics from Cambridge University and has since obtained an MBA from the University of Chicago.
