Wiltshire law firm Bevirs Solicitors has joined Certainty – the National Will Register. Certainty, which is endorsed by the Law Society, provides an online space where people, charities, legal professionals and financial bodies can search for registered wills at low cost.

Many people die intestate, or appear to be as wills can become lost through time due to there being no obvious living relative or through malicious destruction. Relatives also simply may not be aware of a later version of a will.

Certainty has more than 5m wills on its register and it’s the biggest service of its kind in the UK.

Bevirs, which has offices in Swindon, Royal Wootton Bassett and Calne, offers a will and probate service alongside its commercial and family legal work.

Partner Nicholas Sewell, pictured, who is a specialist in wills and probate, said: “Two thirds of people still don’t have a will. If a will cannot be found when someone passes away, the intestacy laws will come into effect and their estate may not be distributed as that person would have wished.

“Bevirs is working with Certainty to protect our wills and probate clients. We believe it’s important for us to be part of this national register so others can find wills which we’ve drawn up and we can also support our clients to find wills which may be relevant to them.”

Bevirs has supported people and businesses in North Wiltshire for more than 130 years.
