Large warehouse and industrial building attracts high level of interest

The largest fully refurbished industrial/warehouse building in Chippenham – the former DTR VMS building on the Bumpers Farm industrial estate – has come onto the market.

The 90,000 sq ft building, pictured below, now rebranded as The Hub, has been empty since the automotive components manufacturer relocated to a larger site in Trowbridge.

Owner London-based Beckman Group has since extensively refurbished the building, including recladding it and replacing the windows with double glazing as well as upgrading the offices and toilets. 

The open plan, square-shaped building now boasts a painted floor and the warehouse heating and the loading doors have also been upgraded.

The building, which can be sub-divided into two 45,000 sq ft units, has two secure yards to either side and plentiful parking to the front.

It is being marketed by the Swindon office of property agents Alder King and Huw Thomas Commercial.

Alder King partner James Gregory said: “The landlords have owned this building since its initial construction in the very early 1990s and it is pleasing to see that they have the confidence to upgrade this significant building.

“It has received a very good level of interest largely due to the scarcity of large quality buildings in an excellent sought after location.”

DTR VMS, formerly Avon Automotive VMS, makes rubber components such as high-spec engine mounts for the global auto industry. It moved to the former Trelleborg factory in Trowbridge to create a state-of-the-art R&D, manufacturing and European logistics facility having outgrown its Chippenham base.
