Joint venture points to creative future for Swindon’s Venues and Events

Venues and Events, the Swindon agency set up by industry veteran Anita Lowe, has set up the first in an expected string of joint ventures.

The firm is working with Northants design and technology agency Creative Example, to focus on trialling presentation technology which will allow meeting planners to show presentations across multiple tablet computers, ending the need for large expensive audio-visual solutions.

Creative Example works with conference and exhibition firms and on digital design and innovation for clients such as Debenhams and Screwfix.

Venues and Events chief executive Anita Lowe, who set up the firm in March after leaving events industry giant Bluehat, said the joint venture with Creative Example was the first of several such planned agreements involving suppliers that can add benefit to the Venues and Events offer.

“The wealth of experience and ideas they’ll bring to the table will be of huge benefit to our client solutions,” she said.

Creative Example innovations director Gareth Waughington added: “We believe that joint ventures and partnering with other companies in various sectors to deliver creative services is the best way to achieve the desired business objectives.

“We look forward to working with Anita and her team and alongside further partners in the future.”

Anita Lowe formed her first company Venues Unlimited in 1989 with husband Chris from their home, building it into one of the UK’s leading event management, conference placement, venue finding and accommodation sourcing companies.

Later renamed as Venues Event Management, it became part of national group Capita Travel & Events in 2013. Anita Lowe left Capita, where she had been a director, last September. She joined Bluehat in January to head a new events division but left in March when Bluehat said the new business would be based in London, not Swindon. She set up Venues and Events in Venues Event Management’s previous base on Wanborough’s Lotmead Business Park with investment from Reading-based Thames Valley Capital and 10 former Bluehat staff.
