Swindon’s Regent Circus retail and leisure scheme has appointed Steve Bizley as centre manager.

Regent Circus, which opened on February 14, includes a state-of-the-art Cineworld cinema, Morrisons supermarket and five restaurants – ASK Italian, Coal, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Nando’s and Prezzo – as well as two car parks.

Steve, who was born just three miles from the development, previously worked for Wiltshire Council and has a wealth of experience in leisure management.

He said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with some of the most popular leisure brands in Swindon and in supporting their continued success. I look forward to building strong relationships with all occupiers, local businesses and ultimately the community, to ensure Regent Circus is a thriving, enjoyable and safe complex in the heart of Swindon.”

Guernsey-based UK Commercial Property Trust, part of Standard Life Investments, bought the 97,000 sq ft scheme for £40.5m from developer Bristol-based Ashfield Land last August – six months before it had opened.

Standard Life Investments portfolio manager David Rodger said: “Steve will greatly assist in the success of the centre, as well as local engagement within the still growing Swindon area. We’re delighted to have appointed a local man who knows the area, the demographics and the competition very well.”
