Each week Swindon Business News lets a prominent member of the area’s business community have the last word on its weekly e-bulletin.

This week Jeremy Morcumb, owner of Mortgage Advice Bureau Swindon, answers our 10 questions.

What was the LAST:

Film you watched? The Imitation Game. It took time for the main character to prove himself and gain respect.

Book you read? Allen Carr’s Stop Smoking. It’s full of simple techniques to help people stop smoking.

Music you bought or downloaded? Ed Sheeran. He is a natural and talented singer and songwriter with very broad appeal. Broad appeal is important in business. To succeed, you must understand the needs of diverse audiences and create products and services that resonate with them.

Concert you went to? The X Factor. If you have the talent, you’ll get your chance in showbiz. This also applies in our industry. And, because we’re always on show, we always deliver with enthusiasm and passion.

Sporting event you attended? My daughter’s Wiltshire swimming trial. She loves to compete, she’s humble and always tries her best. These qualities will serve her well in whatever career path she follows.

Holiday you went on? We stayed in an exclusive villa in Portugal. It was on an impressive complex that was welcoming and efficiently run.

Restaurant you ate in? Rios, the Brazilian Restaurant in Swindon. The food and the experience were both great. I’d heard many good things about Rio’s from friends, family, customers and colleagues about the quality of the restaurant. Word of mouth is a powerful tool, so getting it right is paramount.

Thing that annoyed you? Jeremy Paxman abusing Ed Miliband on live TV. There’s nothing wrong with asking difficult questions, but it’s important to ask them with dignity and respect.

Thing that made you laugh out loud? Watching 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown. A very entertaining and funny show. Originality makes you memorable.

Piece of good advice you were given? Live life for today as tomorrow is uncertain. Life is about making the most of today but keeping a keen eye on the future.

Jeremy Morcumb is the owner of Mortgage Advice Bureau Swindon, an independent provider of mortgage advice for people in Swindon and surrounding areas.
