Two Swindon firms are today celebrating gaining Queen’s Awards for Enterprise – the UK’s highest accolade for business success.
Cheney Manor-based BG Automotive (BGA) and Terrapart, based in Broad Hinton, have received the coveted award for International Trade, Innovation and Sustainable Development.
BGA, which was established in 2001, supplies thousands of auto engine parts and components such as oil pumps and camtrains to the aftermarket. It employs more than 60 staff at its head office and warehouse at Cheney Manor.
It only started exporting six years ago and today sells its products in more than 40 countries across the world.
It is continuing to grow its product range and look for new international market opportunities. This year alone it is exhibiting at international shows in Turkey, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Russia and twice in the US.
Managing director Chris Cameron said: “We are tremendously proud of receiving this prestigious accolade. We have been extremely successful in championing our product overseas by attending various international tradeshows and offering a comprehensive export service.
“In just six years, we have built up a strong client base located in more than 40 countries. I am extremely appreciative of all the efforts from our dedicated export sales team and supporting staff.”
Export sales manager Adrian Bell added: “We hope that these shows will contribute to future success of our export business. We have worked tremendously hard to get us where we are today and I am flattered that BGA and its staff have been recognised for this esteemed award.”
Since its launch 25 years ago Terrapart has built a reputation as the alternative supplier for parts for heavy earth moving equipment.
Today it believes it is the leading independent multi-brand stockist in Europe supplying both genuine and after-market parts for the sector and has supplied 20,000 customers in 98 countries.
Representatives from both firms will be invited to a special reception at Buckingham Palace and will also receive a crystal bowl from the Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire.
They can also use The Queen’s Award Emblem in advertising, marketing and on packaging for a period of five years.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Queen’s Awards and BGA and Terrapart join 140 winners.
The awards are made on the basis of recommendation directly from the Prime Minister’s Office and subsequent approval by Her Majesty The Queen.
