Businesses in Chippenham are being urged to share their views on the town in a survey to help develop new branding and promotional activity.
The online survey is being staged by Chippenham Business Improvement District (BID) in conjunction with the Chippenham Town Council and Chamber of Commerce. Residents and those who work in the town but live elsewhere are also being asked to take part.
The information collected will help the BID shape campaigns to attract more businesses and visitors to the town and boost its retail offering. The new branding for the town will be unveiled in June.
Questions tackle the challenges faced by Chippenham such as its strengths as a retail and business centre, its transport links and cultural offering. They also seek to establish the town’s personality and its best-known products and businesses.
The Chippenham BID was launched last November after being approved by town centre businesses in a ballot. It is one of more than 200 BIDs across the country.
The 377 businesses included in the BID will pay a levy generating a total of £365,500 a year over the next five years which will be invested in marketing and events, as well as addressing infrastructure issues such as additional car parking and keeping the town centre clean and safe.
BID manager Carolyn Brownell, pictured, said: “It is vital that we understand exactly how people feel about Chippenham – who they are, what they do, and how they view the town.
“Our ongoing promotional activity needs to reflect the ambitions of the people and businesses of Chippenham. And as local people will have the best grasp of the town and what needs to be done, we are keen to make sure their opinions are heard and included in our planning. The survey only takes a few minutes to complete and will be hugely important, so I am appealing for as many people as possible to take part and have their say on the future of the town.”
