Vectura, the Chippenham-based drugs development group, has appointed pharmaceutical industry veteran Dr Per-Olof Andersson as a non-executive director.
Dr Andersson has an international research and development track record within the pharmaceuticals, bio-pharmaceuticals and speciality pharmaceutical industry and considerable experience in respiratory therapeutic development.
He retired from Spanish pharmaceutical firm Almirall in 2011 after serving as executive director for R&D and board member. Prior to joining Almirall in 2006 he had a distinguished international career at drugs giants Pharmacia and Pfizer over a period of nearly 20 years.
Since 2011 he has been an independent consultant advising biotech and pharmaceutical companies and in particular working with Almirall.
Vectura chairman Bruno Angelici said: “Per-Olof brings a strong and impressive track record to the company and he has experience at both large pharmaceutical and medium sized specialty pharmaceutical companies.
“His significant industry experience will be of great benefit to the company as we continue our transformation into a specialty pharmaceutical business.”
Vectura develops products for the treatment of airways-related diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It has eight products marketed by partners with growing global royalty streams and a portfolio of drugs in clinical development, a number of which have been licensed to major pharmaceutical companies.
