Regional construction company Beard has appointed chartered accountant Michael McCabe as finance director based at its Swindon office.
In his new role, Michael, pictured, will have management responsibility for finance, business systems and procurement for family-owned construction group, which operates across the South of England. 
Having trained with accountants Price Waterhouse (now PwC), he has since held senior management roles in the construction sector with Oxford-based building materials groups Buildbase and Grafton Merchanting GB.
He has also been market information committee chairman for the Construction Products Association and was a member of the Builders Merchants Federation’s profit and costs committee. He is a member of the Institute of Directors and Chartered Accountants Ireland.
Beard managing director Mark Beard said: “Michael’s knowledge and wide range of experience within the construction sector makes him an excellent addition to our executive team during a new phase of business growth for Beard.”
Earlier this week the group, which also has offices in Guildford and Oxford, reported a 47% increase in pre-tax profits for the year to December 31 to £2.1m on turnover up 15% at £88.1m.
