UTC Swindon, the university technical college that opened in September, has become an official sponsor of the Swindon Wildcats ice hockey team.

The college’s logo will appear on advertising hoardings at the ice rink at the town’s Link Centre – the Wildcats’ home ground. UTC Swindon will also be mentioned in PA and big screen announcements.

The sponsorship entitles UTC Swindon to two tickets to every Swindon Wildcats home game, which it will give to staff or students or use in social media campaigns.

College representatives will hand out promotional material at games and present man-of-the-match awards throughout the season.

UTC Swindon principal Angela Barker-Dench said: “After cheering on the team for the first time, I knew that the Wildcats, with its Link Centre ice ring location, and UTC Swindon would make a great partnership. Swindon Wildcats matches will give us a great opportunity to meet potential students as they make a great family day out.”

Wildcats marketing manager Sally Price added: “We’re delighted to welcome UTC Swindon as sponsor and we’re looking forward to working with Angela over the coming months.”

Founded in 1986, Swindon Wildcats play in the English Premier Ice Hockey League and attract up to 1,500 fans at each home game.
