Manufacturers across Swindon and Wiltshire can learn how to use design for competitive advantage at a workshop next month.
The event, to be staged by the manufacturing advisory organisation MAS and the Wiltshire Business Support Service, will summarise different expressions of design best practice and will include practical exercises to investigate how a product’s manufacturing cost can be reduced by design.
It will also guide delegates towards improvement opportunities relating to their own products.
Businesses attending the workshop, which is aimed at both small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and larger manufacturers, will learn that design best practice can be expressed as a series of rules or guidelines that the best products and design processes embrace.
A significantly more cost-effective and superior product can result if these different guidelines are systematically embedded into a company’s product design and manufacturing activities from the outset.
The workshop runs between 9.30am and 12.30pm on October 9 at The Manor House, Enterprise Centre in Royal Wootton Bassett.
The event is free for SMEs and £100 per delegate for large enterprises. There is a limit of two delegates per company.
