Swindon public relations firm redheadPR’s founder Sara Tye has been appointed to the UTC marketing steering group which provides national support to the Baker Dearing Educational Trust, the charity promoting university technical colleges (UTCs).
Sara, pictured, a highly-respected figure in PR and among the top 500 international operators in the industry, brings 30 years’ experience to her role on the group. As redheadPR managing director she leads a business that manages the reputations of start-ups, corporates, not-for-profits and individuals.
She said: “This is a great privilege. redheadPR has worked with UTC Swindon for nearly 12 months, providing marketing and PR support in advance of the college’s opening this September. We can draw on knowledge and experience gained through this work to benefit the wider UTC programme across England.”
The UTC marketing steering group will help develop the priorities of the Baker Dearing Educational Trust, devise strategic and tactical campaigns and conduct market research.
The Trust was founded by Lord Baker, former Education Secretary, and former Post Office chairman Lord Dearing to develop the concept of technical secondary schools for 14-18 year olds. UTCs offer a broad curriculum that combines an academic education with technical and practical learning.
Trust marketing director Anna Pedroza said: “The UTC brand is growing throughout the country and is recognised as being at the forefront of innovative education. The UTC marketing steering group will help the Trust to build on this work and communicate to parents and young people about UTCs.”
Earlier this year Sara was appointed chair of I Am Woman, the franchised network of business women’s clubs. She is also patron of Christ Church in Swindon, a Virgin and Smarta mentor and director consultant at the global networking group BNI.
