Drivers Direct, which supplies temporary and permanent drivers to the logistics industry, has opened an office in Chiseldon to cover the Swindon area.

The office, on the Unicorn Business Park, is the latest of six opened in the past 18 months as the company expands to cope with growing demand from clients. It now has 21 branches across the UK.

The new office is aiming to have regular jobs for more than 30 drivers by Christmas. It will work with the Drivers Direct branches in Bristol and Reading to serve blue chip clients and build a strong client base in the Thames Valley and West of England.

Driver Direct managing director Gethin Roberts said: “The office will be managed by a strong team of three, using some of our most experienced employees, and we’re confident they will provide the quality service that our customers expect.”

Launched in 2002, Drivers Direct covers all driver classes from chauffeurs and forklift drivers to LGV Class 1 and 2 drivers. It supplies more than 700 drivers a week to clients from across the public and private sectors and now employs more than 60 people across its network of branches. Last year it turned over £16.3m.
