Disused Victorian school site offered for potential housing development

Developers are being sought to convert the former St Mary’s School site in Purton into a small housing scheme.

Property agent Colliers International has been appointed by the Bristol Diocesan Board of Finance and school trustees to sell the site, which closed in 2010 when the Victorian school was relocated and consolidated into a new state-of-the-art facility.

A detailed planning application has been submitted to Wiltshire Council for the partial demolition of the school and conversion of the site to provide eight, two-to-three bedroom homes.

Colliers surveyor Ben Meynell said conversion of the distinctive building, which occupies the central part of the 0.62 acre site, would help to retain the character of the village while helping to bridge the gap between old and new.’’

The sale is by private treaty with offers invited on an informal tender basis for the freehold interest. Offers are invited by Wednesday May 7.
