Hills Homes, the Swindon-based housebuilder, is celebrating after one of its latest developments and its site manager tasted success in building awards staged in Somerset.
The firm, which builds high-quality housing schemes in Wiltshire and neighbouring counties, was highly commended for its Mendip Gardens scheme in Holcombe, in the category for new housing developments of eight units or more at the 2014 Mendip District Council Building Excellence Awards.
The awards are endorsed by the Local Authority Building Control (LABC), a membership organisation representing all local authority building control departments in England and Wales.
Hills describes Holcombe, which has 10 plots, as a "distinctive collection of traditionally-built detached and semi-detached country homes".
Site manager Jan Pearce received the LABC site supervisor of the year award in recognition of his high standards of on-site management at Mendip Gardens. He said: “It’s great to win the award but it should be shared by all those who have been involved at the site.”
They will now progress to the South Western awards to be held later in the year. Qualifiers from these compete in the grand finals in London in the autumn.
