A website that showcases Wiltshire’s ‘hidden gems’, such as its unique food and drink, shops and artists, is to be launched.

Local Uncovered is the brainchild of digital marketer Sam Bertram, who says it will be a new way of bringing small firms together and promote them to a wide audience, including local people and visitors the county.

Site visitors will be able to leave reviews and featured business will also give tips and hints about their own favourite Wiltshire destination or product. Businesses featured on the site will range from food and drink producers and retailers, artists, experiences, accommodation, events, local shops and charities.

Sam, founder of Marlborough-based Ambiana Marketing – which specialises in helping small firms – will speak about the site at next week’s meeting of Swindon networking group Business Village.

She said: “There have been other attempts to do this but they have tended to be dry, impersonal listings.

“The goal is to provide a service for locals and visitors to the area who are missing out on all these great products and services right on their doorstep.”

She said Wiltshire’s small firms formed a rich community of skill, talent and knowledge.

“By working together we can achieve real leverage to promote Wiltshire as a destination,” she added.

The site is due to go live at the end this month.

Sam will be giving her talk at the Business Village breakfast on April 10. The group meets every Thursday from 7.30am-9am at the Holiday Inn Express, by junction 16 of the M4. All are welcome, and it costs £10 per person. To book, visit www.businessvillage.org
