A former Swindon residential care home has been sold for conversion into flats. Windswept, a detached Victorian property in Belmont Crescent, Old Town, was bought by Leeds-based investors Kamara Management.
Property consultants Alder King’s Swindon office secured the freehold sale of the home off a guide price of £575,000 on behalf of Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust.
The three-storey property has a total of 4,380 sq ft of accommodation and retains many original and unique features including high ceilings, tiled floors, feature windows and staircases and a conservatory overlooking the garden.
Kamara is drawing up plans to convert the property into flats, subject to securing planning consent.
Alder King’s Swindon office associate Alison Williams said: “Windswept was an extremely attractive opportunity for both developers and owner occupiers. The property generated significant interest with the need to arrange dedicated viewing days on four specific occasions.”
The former residents have been relocated to modern and more spacious state-of-the-art accommodation elsewhere in Swindon.
